The King Air C90GTx was designed as a direct development of the C90GTi model with added winglets and full-throttle payload flexibility. It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-135A turboprops rated at 550 shp each to provide a range of 1,152 nm. The addition of standard winglets helps increase MTOW by 10,485 lbs, reduce drag and accelerate climb rates. The 227 cubic-foot interior allows passengers to comfortably reach their destination with more head and shoulder room than previous models, while its 26 tuned vibration dampers significantly reduce cabin noise.

Inside the C90GTx cockpit, the instrument panel features Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion avionics, providing simplified single-pilot operation, a touchscreen graphical flight plan, a high-resolution synthetic vision system and precision NextGen GPS capabilities. Integrated touchscreen checklists and automatic wireless map downloads also make flying and navigation easier for pilots.

The King Air C90GTx is still in production, with a total of 168 aircraft currently being built. North America is the region that operates the largest percentage of the fleet at 42%, while South America follows with 32%. An additional 10% are operated in both Europe and Asia. Currently, 4.8% of the fleet is for sale in the market, and an average of 2 aircraft are sold per month.

Beechcraft Company

Beechcraft develops and manufactures commercial, military and general aviation aircraft. A Textron brand since 2014, Beechcraft’s aircraft portfolio spans from light single-engine aircraft to military trainers, with a strong presence in the turboprop market.

In 1932, Walter Beech founded the Beech Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. The company’s initial offering, the Model 17 Staggerwing, was first flown in November 1932, and over 750 civilian aircraft were sold in its production run. For the first time in commercial aviation, the Model 17 had a top speed of 200 miles per hour.

Since Beechcraft was founded in the years leading up to World War II, Walter Beech quickly got his company involved in the production of military aircraft. The company would eventually produce over 7,400 aircraft for the U.S. military and its allies, including the AT-11 Kansan. About 90 percent of the 45,000 USAAF bombers that flew during World War II trained on AT-11s.

After the war, the civilian aircraft market continued to expand. Beechcraft replaced the aging Model 17 Staggerwing with the revolutionary Bonanza in 1947. The aircraft holds the title of the longest production run in history, and is still manufactured today.

Olive Ann Beech, Walter’s wife, took control of the company after Walter’s death in 1950. Over the next three decades, Beechcraft would launch the legendary Baron (1960) and King Air (1964) aircraft, which are still in production. In February 1980, the company was acquired by Raytheon, and the appointment of Linden Blue as CEO of Beechcraft in 1982 marked the end of 50 years of Beech family management. Raytheon merged Beechcraft with the Hawker product line in 1994, and the brand was renamed Hawker Beechcraft after Raytheon sold its Raytheon Aircraft brand to Goldman Sachs in 2006.

Lawsuits stemming from the 2008 recession and past mistakes forced Hawker Beechcraft to file for bankruptcy protection in 2012. Textron, the parent company of longtime competitor Cessna, bought the reconstituted Beechcraft Corp. in 2014.

Beechcraft currently produces the King Air, Baron and Bonanza lines, with four King Air variants offering ranges between 1,260 nm and 2,692 nm. Cessna and Beechcraft make up the Textron Aviation division.

Choosing your model among the private jets on the market

Problems. Problems. When your biggest problem is figuring out what type of private jet to charter for your next trip , well, they wouldn’t understand, you’ve got other problems anyway. If you’re not sure what type of jet is best for you, here’s a rundown to get you started.

1. Compact Light Jets

Mustang Quote | Eclipse EA500 | Honda Jet | Phenom 100

In the compact light jet category, “The Phenom 100s, which seat four, have a huge cabin for a light jet, offer extraordinary comfort and reliability, and fly at 450 miles per hour up to 40,000 feet, making them ideal for flights of one to three hours,” said Alex Wilcox, CEO of JetSuite, which operates the jet type.

2. Small Cabin Light Jets

Beechjet 400A | Hawker 400XP | CitationJet | Quote CJ1 | CJ1+ Quote | CJ2 Quote | CJ2+ Quote | Quote CJ3 | Bravo Quote | Ultra Quote | Quote Again | Quote Encore+ | Learjet 31A | First I| First AI | Nextant 400XTi | Phenom 300

Roger Woolsey, CEO of Millionair, which operates 30 FBOs, says, “I love the smell of jet fuel in the morning, so I admit I love all jets. But I have to say the Citation CJ3 is a particular favorite! It leads the pack in low operating costs, flies at 400 knots per hour, has excellent range that allows my team to fly to any (of our) FBOs nonstop from the company’s Houston headquarters, and it has enough room for each passenger to bring their “real” luggage! The CJ-3 carries a lot of luggage without sacrificing…speed, range, comfort, price and luggage space.”

For Andrew Collins, CEO of Sentient, “The Phenom 300 is more of a superlight jet than a traditional Light Preferred… I really like that it’s the largest cabin in the light jet category with great performance in the air and on the ground (short runways). The Phenom 300 has a range of 1,971 nm, or New York to Aspen nonstop, with enough fuel for a turnaround at its top speed of 453 knots. The typical configuration is six passengers and, for its size, has plenty of baggage capacity.”

But Collins also likes the Nextant 400XTi, an aircraft that can also fly nonstop on the important New York-Aspen route. “It’s one of my favorites in Sentient’s Light Preferred category for its spacious cabin and large baggage capacity,” Collins says, adding, “It cruises from a top speed of 460 knots to a long-range speed of 406 knots. The 400XTi can be had in multiple configurations, with one seating five and others seating up to seven. Kudos to Nextant for challenging and rethinking the light jet.”

3. Super Light Jets

Astra SP | Astra SPX | Excel Quote | XLS Quote | XLS+ Quote | Gulfstream G-100 | Learjet 40 | Learjet 40XR | Learjet 45 | Learjet 45XR

Adam Twidell, founder of PrivateFly and also a commercial jet pilot, singles out the Citation XLS, noting: “I may be a little biased, as I fly one myself. But millions of other private jet customers can’t be wrong! Despite a tough time in the mid-size segment in recent years, the $14 million Citation XLS (and its predecessor and descendant the XL and XLS+) remains the world’s best-selling private jet.” Twidell attributes its popularity to “versatility, space and reliability.” With a range of 1,800 nautical miles, the eight-seater XLS can fly non-stop for three to four hours, giving it more routes than a small jet, but it’s at the more cost-effective end of the mid-size category. It costs $7,700 for a one-day round trip between New York and Washington, less than many small planes. It’s also significantly roomier than a small plane, both in the cabin and in the 700-pound baggage hold – which can hold up to eight sets of golf clubs.”

4. Midsize Cabin Jets

In the Midsize category, the Citation Latitude is generating excitement. Pat Gallagher, NetJets’ senior vice president of sales and marketing, said, “We haven’t put it into service yet, but I’m very excited to have the Citation Latitude in our fleet. I was part of the demonstration and I love it. No other aircraft in its class has the same cabin and it has all the performance features you’d expect from a Citation. At the price and operating costs of a midsize jet, you get a super-midsize cabin with a flat floor and plenty of baggage capacity. This aircraft is going to be a huge success for Cessna and NetJets.”

5. Super Midsize Cabin Jets

Challenger 300/350 | Latitude Quote| Sovereign Quote | Quote Falcon 50 | Falcon 50EX | Gulfstream G-200 | Hawker 1000 | Hawker 4000

In the Super Midsize Cabin category, Sentient’s Collins says, “The Challenger 300 is Sentient’s most requested specific aircraft. I love it for its spacious cabin, exceptional performance and pleasant handling… my favorite aircraft to fly, for sure.” He adds, “The CL300 has coast-to-coast capability (and) even New York to London. The standard CL300 seats eight, but I’ve seen them seat up to nine.”

VistaJet Chief Commercial Officer Ian Moore chooses the Challenger 350: “With a flight time of just over seven hours, this aircraft is perfect for taking up to eight passengers from San Francisco to New York, Los Angeles to Miami, New York to Nassau or Dallas to Chicago.”

Another popular choice in this category is the Citation Sovereign. Mike Ryan, Victor’s Sales and Operations Director, says: “The Citation Sovereign is a popular choice for our European skiing members. Its short-field performance, range and baggage carrying capacity make it ideal for many popular ski resorts such as Sion or Altenrhein, which have small runways, limiting the number of aircraft that can operate there. With eight comfortable passenger seats, the Sovereign also has an impressive 100 cubic feet of baggage, capable of swallowing all your bulky winter sports luggage.”

6. Large Cabin Jets

Challenger 604 | Challenger 605 | Falcon 2000 | Falcon 2000DX | Falcon 2000EX EASy | Falcon 2000 LX | Falcon 900 | Falcon 900B | Falcon 900C | Falcon 900DX | Falcon 900EX EASy | Embraer Legacy 600 | Embraer Legacy Shuttle

Among the large cabin jets, PrivateFly’s Twidell likes the Embraer Legacy 600, calling it “a very popular new charter choice, along with the rest of the Legacy family, the 450, 650 and the new Legacy 500.” Among its benefits, he says: “It’s very popular and the most cost-effective aircraft over the long term. Based on Brazilian manufacturer Embraer’s ERJ 135 airframe, the Legacy 600 is very spacious and unbeatable in price for flights of around five hours, with a range of 3,400 nautical miles. It can accommodate up to 14 passengers, but without any compromise on cabin or hold space, so it’s a great choice for larger groups, or those with a lot of luggage.”

7. Large Cabin Heavy Jets

Global5000 | GlobalExpress | Global Express XRS | Gulfstream G-350 | Gulfstream G-450 | Gulfstream G-500 | Gulfstream G-550 | Gulfstream G-IV | Gulfstream G-IVSP | Gulfstream GV | Falcon 7X

Gulfstream is the sexy name in the private jet industry and Ryan de Victor says: “The GIV-SP is a very popular transatlantic jet. Typically seating 12 to 16 passengers, these aircraft make regular trips between New York and London.” For those of you looking to score a deal, he says this popular aircraft is “often available for great value empty leg flights.” The aircraft has a stylish “airy” cabin thanks to its unique large oval windows and many of the leather seats can be converted into beds, ensuring you arrive rested and refreshed for your important meetings and engagements.”

While it doesn’t have the same brand awareness as the Savannah-based manufacturer, Bombardier is the preferred choice for long-haul flights with its Global series. VistaJet’s Moore, who owns the Global 5000, says, “With an 11-hour flight time and up to 13 passengers, or seven beds, this aircraft is ideal for travel between New York and Paris, Los Angeles and Hawaii, Boston and San Jose, or Houston and London.” He says, “Bombardier Global aircraft are essential to VistaJet’s strategy of connecting the majority of the world’s cities nonstop at a one-way fare.”

NetJets’ Gallagher is also a fan of the Canadian manufacturer. “I absolutely love the Global 6000,” he told ForbesLife.com, adding, “It has the range to do any mission you can imagine. The cabin is so spacious, luxurious and quiet, but perhaps the most impressive feature of the aircraft is that it can do things that no other large cabin can do. We just flew the Global 6000 from Aspen to London City, then to Lugano, back to London City and finally to White Plains. You could spend a lot more on a competing jet and not get anywhere near that kind of performance.”

8. Bizliners

In this category, experts say the offerings are simply too diverse to be a favorite. Each of these planes, which were primarily designed for commercial aviation, are configured so differently that there is a wide variation. Some have bedrooms and showers, others have business-class style seats. Some have private sleeping compartments, others do not. Others have extra fuel tanks to increase range compared to the same type of plane. In this category, it really comes down to looking at the specific planes that are available when and where you want to go.

Enjoy the luxury of a private jet…or how to acquire your own plane

The coronavirus pandemic in 2021 has accelerated the trend towards increasing private jet travel. More and more travelers prefer the safety, flexibility and comfort of a private jet. Private flights are used by families with children for vacations, by businessmen or corporations, as they are a way to quickly and comfortably get to an appointment, and also by other travelers looking for entertainment, culture or sports. If you regularly rent a private jet , it is time to think about purchasing your own private jet. How to decide and what criteria to consider? The JetBee team has prepared a detailed guide for you.

A private jet is not an unnecessary luxury, but a functional solution

Many people have the means to acquire a private jet, but ultimately prefer to rent it. The common reason is that they consider it a whim and additional hassle. Given the developments during COVID-19 and beyond, owning your own private jet has suddenly appeared as a more pragmatic solution. Saving time on check-in or stopovers is very important, especially for businessmen, as this time saving is associated with saving money. This money saved can then be invested in purchasing your own jet.

If you are one of those people who often use private jets , it might be more advantageous for you to acquire your own aircraft or share it with other owners. There are many types of aircraft on the market and this does not mean buying a presidential Boeing or a large GulfStream straight away. Smaller jets, light jets and jets are sold at a much lower price. In addition, if you look at the second-hand sale, which is common, you can buy your own aircraft for a few tens of millions of crowns. You then have the opportunity to acquire a part of an aircraft, that is, you become the owner of a proportional part. This service is offered, for example, by the company NetJets, founded by Warren Buffett.

You also don’t have to worry about your private jet being tied up in a hangar if you don’t use it and losing money. It’s easy to contact an operator, such as JetBee , and rent the plane from them. The operator ensures that your plane is used to the maximum , allowing you to monetize your plane and recoup some of the costs.

Enjoy the luxury of a private jet…or how to acquire your own plane

Breaking point – when is it beneficial to buy a private jet

If you rent a private jet, the operator makes every effort to find the most optimal solution based on your needs and wishes, as well as the best price. In some cases, you can also use the empty legs offer , i.e. empty flights – an empty plane that picks up passengers or returns to the departure airport. The price of a plane ticket is then a fraction of the original price of the plane ticket. In principle, this is a variant of last-minute plane tickets from commercial airlines that offer unoccupied seats before the flight, but in the private flight sector. The advantage of empty legs is that it may not be a specific airport of departure or landing of the plane. If your destination is on the route, the private airline can pick you up or drop you off there.

But if you fly often, if you need to book a plane at the last minute or just before the flight, you do not know the number of passengers, it is worth thinking about the idea of acquiring your own private jet. The moment when you start thinking about acquiring your own plane is called “breaking point” or “break-even”. This is the first step where you will realize that it is more advantageous for you to acquire your own private jet rather than renting it, because it is cheaper. This situation usually concerns travelers who do about 400 hours of flight or more per year. You will find on the Internet many questionnaires with specific questions that will help you know if it is better for you to buy a private jet or if it is better to rent private planes. You have taken the first steps … and now?

How to choose a tailor-made private jet

When you find that it is more advantageous for you to buy a private jet rather than rent it, especially thanks to the questionnaire or thanks to your own experience, you have other decisions to make. You can browse the Internet, buy brochures from aircraft manufacturers or contact your operator who will help you choose the most suitable aircraft . The JetBee team remains at your disposal.

The very important aspect when making a decision is the destinations you are flying to. Are you traveling more within Europe or also overseas? This information is essential to determine the type of aircraft and especially its range. It is also important to know who you are traveling with and how many people will be on board. The choice of the type of aircraft will depend on the situation, whether you are a businessman, a manager who is taking a few partners, whether you are traveling with your family, whether you are taking a whole team for negotiations or whether you are a sports team with several players. In the first two cases, a six to eight seater aircraft, such as Hawker BeechJet , will suit you perfectly.

Another criterion is comfort and your overall attitude to flying. Will you be satisfied with a narrow and low cabin (the approximate height in the smallest planes is 150 cm) or are you rather claustrophobic and afraid of flying? Do you want to walk during the flight, stretch your legs and straighten your back? All of these are criteria that you should consider when choosing your plane. Purchasing a private plane is affordable, but it is still a relatively high sum and above all a long-term investment . It is therefore wise to think carefully before buying. Once you have found the answers to all these questions, you will have a relatively clear idea of the category in which you are located and you can start your search for a specific type of plane.

How to Finance the Purchase of a Private Jet

Few people have several tens or hundreds of millions in their pockets to pay for their plane and fly away immediately. Financing of private aircraft by a bank or loan is much more common. Both types are offered by special divisions of Czech and especially international banks. This type of financing works on a different principle than ordinary loans or leasing or mortgages. Its conditions are set in such a way that the new owner of a private jet can use it as he wishes and has free rein in its operation.

The control of the client, beneficiary of a bank loan for the acquisition of a private jet, is also much more detailed and thorough, compared to ordinary loans. The client must prove his financial credibility , the results of his operation, the solvency and also the guarantee, ideally in the form of patronage of a certain corporation. In the past, it was possible to guarantee by the value of the aircraft itself, but this does not work anymore. In general, to obtain the finances to acquire an aircraft, the bank will require an initial deposit that will amount to at least 20% of the total amount.

Participatory ownership of an aircraft as an alternative

There are people who would like to buy their own plane, but either they do not have enough funds or they do not use it enough, which makes it unprofitable. There is also the option called participatory ownership of an aircraft. This means that the client does not buy an entire plane , but only a part of it. The client has a private jet but is not obliged to pay the full price. This service is offered by companies that have several planes, which is another advantage, namely, if two participants want to fly at the same time, the company offers them an alternative in the form of another plane.

How to Use a Private Plane

The operation of an aircraft is a relatively complicated process that requires many operations , collaboration between specialists of specialized professions and also cooperation between offices and institutions. If you think that having a pilot’s license is enough, you are wrong. A private jet requires much more attention than just knowing how to fly.

Using a private jet requires a place to house the aircraft, a flight crew, regular checks and maintenance of the aircraft, handling agents, airport check-in service, flight planning , management and maintenance, permits, administration and many others. One person is not able to perform all these functions. Contact an operator who is knowledgeable in this field and who will assist you. JetBee company offers its customers all services related to the use of an aircraft , including transportation to and from an airport, restaurant reservations and accommodation or catering on board the aircraft and on-board service.

You are considering buying a private jet. Contact us , we will advise you and possibly help you to settle all the formalities and we will take care of the smooth use of the aircraft.

What does the price of a private jet flight usually include?

To inquire about private jet charter , clients have the option to submit an online inquiry, communicate via email, or contact our brokers directly via phone or message. To help you understand how the price of a private jet flight is determined , we have compiled a list of the various fees that are typically included in the total cost. Several factors influence the quote for your private jet flight, including the size of the aircraft, the duration of the trip, any stops for refueling, the number of passengers, and the volume of baggage. These elements influence the majority of the associated costs:

Repositioning costs

When your selected private jet is not parked at your chosen departure airport, there will be a cost associated with the flight to get there. Therefore, your charter quote will include the costs of positioning or repositioning the aircraft.

Defrosting, insurance or hangar costs

De- icing a private jet involves removing ice build-up from the aircraft. In addition to being a dangerous additional weight, ice and snow accumulating on critical surfaces can cause a variety of disruptions. It is therefore essential to ensure that critical areas of the aircraft are clean before your flight. LunaJets offers solutions to reduce or avoid these costs, such as arranging for your aircraft to be parked in a heated hangar the night before your departure. You also have the option of purchasing LunaJets De-icing Insurance to prevent unexpected and often high de-icing costs.

Flight related costs

This cost represents the price of the flight itself and is based on the hourly rate of the type of aircraft you have decided to rent. The number of passengers directly influences the total weight of the aircraft, the fuel requirements, any stops for refueling, the choice of the size of the jet, and therefore, the total cost of the flight.

Airport landing and handling fees

Airports charge landing fees, calculated based on the weight of the aircraft, to finance the maintenance of their infrastructure.

Handling fees are for managing your aircraft on the tarmac. These fees are collected by fixed-base operators (FBOs) or airport handling companies, which provide a range of services including coordinating fueling, arranging ground transportation, maintaining the aircraft’s lavatories, and providing crew rest areas.

Parking and overnight fees

Parking fees apply when return flights are booked. They are the costs associated with parking the aircraft at the airport, whether for one night or a longer period.

Fuel supplement

Due to the volatility of fuel prices, charter brokers often include a surcharge in the quote to cover the difference between the estimated cost of fuel and its actual price at the time of flight.

Crew salaries and expenses

Private jets are usually flown by two pilots. For mid-size and larger jets, a flight attendant is also common. The cost of crew meals is covered by the broker and passed on to the client.

For round-trip flights, crew accommodation costs, which depend on the length of stay on the ground, are also the responsibility of the charterer.

Catering and special requests

These fees are for additional services requested when booking your flight. For example, options such as meals, drinks, special occasion amenities, or customization of the interior or exterior of the aircraft can all be included in the total price of your private jet charter.

Passenger taxes

Passenger taxes vary by route. Many countries impose a departure tax per passenger, making the cost proportional to the number of passengers.

Beyond the fees listed above, additional costs may arise depending on the specific services you wish to add to your flight. Each private jet flight is personalized, as is its rate.

LunaJets quotes are usually provided as a PDF document, but can also be sent via text message, depending on your preference. We offer a variety of jet options for customers to choose from, and the post-quote process is designed to be quick and easy to follow.

Private Yachts: Zeelander 5 shines bright

Zeelander Yachts has just released the first full photoshoot of its voluptuous Zeelander 5. The 48ft (14.7m) yacht joins its larger sisters with Zeelander’s new curvier styling and a host of small design improvements that help to elevate the exclusive experience of owning one of these yachts.

Admirers of the famous Zeelander line, which runs up to 79ft (24m), will instantly recognize the new S-shaped sheerline of the Zeelander 5. It is a natural evolution of the now legendary Z44, which began the Zeelander story back in 2000s. This small but important tweak also completes the updating of the brand’s design language, giving the yacht even more presence on the water.

The Zeelander 5 offers a very sophisticated interior beyond the gleaming topsides and flawless lines. Her deck saloon offers lounging in comfortable sofas that also allow six to dine with sweeping 360-degree views. Zeelander’s design team has found a way to eliminate the window mullions that would otherwise interrupt sightlines.

Sophisticated design

Gently curving stairs lead below to two exquisite cabins. The owner’s cabin positions a bed midship, where it makes the most of the views and natural light that streams in through the hull lights. A broad vanity desk dominates the port side of the cabin, which is otherwise lined with fine cabinetry that offers copious storage.

More storage is built into the walls of the lobby that divides the master cabin from the shower room and head, which are tastefully separated.

The Zeelander 5 is designed as much for outdoor living as indoors, suiting the yacht to the Florida Keys, Nantucket Island, and the Mediterranean every bit as much as the Norwegian fjords. A deep cockpit with sofas and a high-low table cocoons guests in its elegant embrace, providing shelter from sun or wind, as required. In fine weather, the door and window to the saloon can be opened for smooth communication from the helm to the cockpit. Another more open lounge on the foredeck makes an ideal spot for sun worship or simply soaking up the view in comfort.

As with every Zeelander yacht, the transom is both a thing of beauty and a key feature. Its complex curves span the entire width and depth of the stern, completing a sense of voluptuous perfection when viewing the boat as a whole. But it also folds smoothly down to offer a large bathing platform with comfortable sunbeds that eclipses everything else in its class. The platform becomes a private beach area at the water’s edge, large enough to place loungers or chairs and a table. Or use it to launch a water sports session by deploying the hidden hydraulic element of the platform to provide steps down into the water. You can also use it to step up onto the dock when moored alongside.

Although long experience has taught Zeelander that its select pool of passionate owners tend to die out, the Zeelander 5 still offers a fully functional galley. A fridge, basin, wine cooler and induction hob are discreetly installed in the curved counter that runs along the starboard side of the saloon.

There is nothing superfluous on a Zeelander, and the Zeelander 5 is no exception. The yard has brought engineering and design together into an art form that turns every piece of equipment into an item of ornamentation. That’s why the custom built, mirror-polished cleats that adorn the toerail have been described as ‘stainless steel jewellery’. And why Zeelander chooses to hand paint its exterior handrails to resemble wood, so that there is never the risk of flaking varnish.

Fast and seaworthy

Performance is a given with the Zeelander 5. Choose between twin or triple Volvo Penta IPS 650 drives, providing intuitive joystick handling at close quarters and exhilarating top speeds up to 40 knots. With a cruising range of over 450 nautical miles, and a meticulously designed hull that keeps the boat comfortable in any conditions, it’s easy to spend all day reaching a new cruising ground.

Obsessive noise management on the part of Zeelander’s engineers means that even at full throttle, it is possible to hold a normal conversation anywhere on board. It was one of founder and owner Sietse Koopmans’ design priorities, and his commitment has translated into a suite of proprietary noise and vibration reduction systems that are the envy of the boatbuilding world.

“The Zeelander 5 is the natural evolution of the original Z44 and, like that very first yacht from Zeelander, has become an instant design icon,” said Zeelander Yachts founder Sietse Koopmans. “Quiet and comfortable, huge fun to drive and seductively styled, she is every bit the equal of our larger yachts. Little wonder that the world’s most discerning yachtsmen consider that they collect Zeelanders rather than simply buying them.”

Zeelander Yachts launches its stylish new mini superyacht Zeelander 8

Zeelander Yachts has added an exceptional new flagship to its collection, following the launch of the 23.9-meter (79ft) Zeelander 8.

It was a significant moment for the boutique builder that chooses to build just a handful of peerless yachts every year for discerning clients. The Zeelander 8 is the largest yacht ever built by Zeelander, but it is also a close development of the existing product line, which starts at 14.7m (48ft). The mini superyacht sports the voluptuous lines, effortless power and whisper quiet operation for which Zeelander is renowned.

“Our newest model, the Zeelander 8, surpasses its on-paper expectations, showcasing an even more impressive presence in real life. Its timeless design remains uniquely Zeelander, blending classic elegance with modern innovation,” said founder and owner Sietse Koopmans.

Every Zeelander model is a work of art in a state of constant evolution. So, for all the family resemblance, the new Zeelander 8 has a prominent flowing sheerline. Its gracefully raked stern and wrap-around windscreen will be familiar to admirers of the brand, and you will struggle to find a plain, straight line anywhere about the exterior.

It is a testament to the design team that the Zeelander 8 shares the same perfect proportions as its smaller sisters, despite that impressive length. Designer Cor D. Rover’s experienced touch is evident, alongside that of Zeelander’s dedicated in-house designers. At deck-level, the extra volume means more space for both a dedicated relaxing area and a large dining table with wrap-around seating. Then, below deck, there is a breathtaking full-beam owner’s cabin amidships plus two further guest doubles, all with ensuite bathrooms. The Zeelander 8 combines a superyacht soul with a sub-24m (79ft) hull.

“When designing the Zeelander I was heavily inspired by the timeless beauty of New England and its lobster boats as well as the classic fast commuter yachts that business tycoons used every morning to commute from their Long Island estates to their Wall Street offices,” said Cor D. Rover. “That inspiration combined with state-of-the-art technology and next-level luxury standards led to the epitome of beauty and style that Zeelander is today and will be for years to come.”

While the Zeelander 8 is still conceived as a joy for the owner to drive, it is to be expected that additional service may also be desired. Consequently, the bow of the boat is designated for cabins that can accommodate up to three crew members, with a separate entrance that ensures complete privacy for the owner and guests.

No description of the Zeelander 8 would be complete without evoking the curvaceous appeal of the aft deck. Deeply padded leatherette seats cocoon their occupants around a high gloss table. Then, at the touch of a button, the transom swings open to create a huge 12 square meter bathing platform, essentially a private beach club, suspended invitingly above the water. The tender doesn’t dilute the pleasure of this space, as it has its own dedicated garage amidships, running the full beam of the yacht. Experience shows that most owners will go ashore to dine, but there is still a capable, modern galley built into the long sideboard on the starboard side of the saloon.

Owners know their minds when it comes to the details of living aboard, and Zeelander’s owners are among the world’s most discerning. That is why Zeelander takes a flexible approach on the finer points of his yachts. The layout of key areas, such as the aft deck, saloon, and guest cabins, along with other customizations, can be tailored to individual preferences. Many owners want to put their own flourish on the styling, as well. From a favorite leather to a specific lamp fitting or carpet motif, Zeelander positively welcomes custom requests.

Once again, the Dutch yacht builder has poured its industry-leading experience of noise and vibration attenuation into the new design. At full throttle, the yacht can operate without noise levels on board ever breaking the 65dBa barrier. This is particularly impressive since the usual threshold for normal conversation is around 72dBa. In other words, the Zeelander 8 will always be an oasis of calm comfort – even at its exhilarating top speed of 40 knots.

“The Zeelander 8 is a powerful statement regarding the desirability and collectability of our yachts,” said Koopmans. “But more than that, it is proof of our approach to creating exceptional experiences on water, whether reveling in the handling at the helm or soaking up the delights of a new anchorage. I believe that the Zeelander 8 represents the pinnacle of performance and comfort for the world’s most demanding owners. We’ve already started building the second hull, which confirms the model’s success.”

Fjord 490 Yacht Open or Sport, choose between outboard or inboard engine

The Fjord shipyard presents the new Fjord 490, which is available as an open version with an in-board engine and as a sports version with an outboard engine. In addition to the engine, the shipyard offers a wide range of personalization options for the sleeping area.

An outboard or in-board version

Fjord presents its latest model, the Fjord 490, available as an Open version with an in-board engine or as a Sport version with three V12 outboard engines. In the first configuration, the two 2×800 hp engines accelerate the boat to 34 knots , in the second the 3×600 hp engines to 45 knots .

Elegant design with distinctive walkaround deck plan

The 14.70m unit was designed by Italian designer Marco Casali, a first for the shipyard. The hydrodynamic hull design and walkaround deck plan are designed to adapt to a wide range of sea conditions. The hull has been developed and optimized for this model and is made of sandwich construction for greater robustness.

The boat is presented as agile, comfortable, stable and powerful. Solutions that should also make mooring easier. The lines are characteristic of the series, racy and elegant, with the hull characterized by a long, continuous black glazing.

A sociable square

The cockpit has space for up to four pilot seats and has a fully equipped dashboard with all electronics, control systems and screens. The 2.40 m wide kitchen block behind it has a sink, a large work surface and either an electric grill or a stove. An additional refrigerator, freezer, ice maker, electric hob or coffee machine are available on request.

The seating area with two tables that fold in and out electrically can accommodate up to 10 people. The large hardtop offers the necessary protection both at the helm and in the saloon and can be optionally extended with an electric bimini. The hardtop brackets are attached to the deck walls to increase rigidity and not hinder movement on board.

Order under the sun lounger

At the stern of the 490 Sport, the large sundeck can be opened with an electric control to provide storage space for water sports equipment, a paddle or diving equipment. In the in-board version, the engines are located there, but the shipyard assures that the storage space has also been optimized. The novelty of the Fjord 490 is in the cockpit with tilting bulwarks. The bathing platform of the Fjord 490 Open can optionally be lowered hydraulically. On request, an electric gangway can be installed on the outboard version, which offers easier access and serves as a bathing ladder.

As with all models in the series, the foredeck offers a second sundeck, which is accessible via the flush passages.

Facilitate harbor maneuvers

Electric winches can be fitted to the stern cleats to make mooring easier. The rectangular fenders are stowed within easy reach in the bulwarks. The Volvo mooring assistant module can be installed as an option to make manoeuvring easier.

Multiple configuration options for the sleeping area

Below deck there are a variety of design options with many individual solutions. In addition to the guest cabin with double berth and storage space, an owner’s cabin with or without a partition wall or a U-shaped saloon that can be converted into a bed are also possible. A standard bathroom can be supplemented by installing a second bathroom. Four different interior design styles are offered.

Conclusion

The Fjord 490 offers exceptional versatility, combining elegant design with powerful performance in both in-board and outboard versions. With numerous customization options, a sociable cockpit, and optimized storage solutions, it provides a luxurious, functional boating experience tailored for comfort and convenience in all sea conditions.

Avico Guide: How to rent a private jet and at what price?

Renting a private plane is not as simple as renting a car. You have to be discerning to avoid the many pitfalls and choose the charter solution with the aircraft that really suits your needs. Depending on the size of your group, the destination of your choice, and the price you have set for yourself. Without neglecting three important parameters: reliability, safety and services.

5 Tips for Your First Private Jet Charter

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we travel and we are seeing a marked shift in the composition of our private jet charter clientele . Typically, three-quarters of flights are booked by clients who have flown on private jets before, but recently we are seeing an increasing number of requests from new passengers.

1) Find the right device according to your needs

There are a large number of jets available, in all sizes and categories. The most suitable aircraft will depend on the number of passengers, your budget, your luggage and your itinerary, but also, as with some of our customers, your personal preferences.

– Light and midsize jets  like the Nextant 400XTi, Embraer Phenom 300 and Citation XLS can carry between 4 and 8 people. Small, but fast and economical, they are ideal for 2-3 hour flights. Most are equipped with a lavatory.

– Super-midsize and standard jets , such as the Challenger 350, Legacy 500 or Legacy 600, are ideal for groups of up to 13 people and non-stop flights of 5 or 6 hours.

– Ultra long-range jets and converted airliners  can accommodate larger groups and travel very long distances for business trips or VIP transport. The largest cabins offer real beds, spacious bathrooms and multi-zone configurations.

2) Be advised on choice, price and peace of mind

Jets available for charter are managed by private operators: companies that own or manage aircraft on behalf of third parties.

The market is highly segmented. In Europe alone, there are hundreds of operators, each with a limited number of aircraft, so it can be complex to navigate. That’s where brokers like PrivateFly come in handy. Our mission is to help you find the best aircraft for your flight in a vast and confusing market. Our relationship is built on trust and accountability – something we take very seriously at PrivateFly.

A good broker works only with accredited operators, who meet strict criteria in terms of service and safety. In the spirit of our parent company, Directional Aviation, the largest private aviation group in the world, our approach goes well beyond industry standards. Thus, in the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are carefully ensuring compliance with hygiene and health safety protocols.

3) Understand the calculation of prices

When you book a private jet, you don’t pay an individual seat rate, but a lump sum for the entire aircraft on a specific route, regardless of the number of passengers. You can book a one-way, round-trip or multi-destination flight.

Airline operators prepare their quotes based on several factors, including the cost of an hour of flight on the desired aircraft (which includes crew pay, fuel, maintenance and other overheads), any repositioning fees if the aircraft must be flown back to its point of origin, landing fees and other taxes.

Our online booking platform allows our partners to quickly issue their quotes and position themselves on a unique marketplace. In addition to this service, we offer exclusive rates on certain aircraft managed by our group. Our offer is varied, with photos and detailed information on each available jet. Online access makes booking easy, but we can also assist you by phone: our team of experts is available 24/7 to answer your questions and manage the organization of your tailor-made flight.

To give you an idea of market prices, you should know that booking a private plane can cost around €4,500 for a one or two hour flight on a light jet and more than €112,000 for a long-haul round trip, between Paris and New York for example.

4) Be on familiar ground from the airport

When you fly privately, you don’t use the same terminal, or even the same airport, as you would for a traditional commercial flight. Since jets can land on shorter runways, they have access to dedicated facilities, such as Paris-Le Bourget or Farnborough airports near London.

These facilities are called FBOs ( fixed-based operators), a term that refers to the space and services at an airport reserved for private aviation. Using an FBO makes boarding much faster and easier. You can park right at the entrance of the building, where you’ll be greeted by your pilot and whisked to your plane in just a few minutes. You’ll still have to go through the mandatory security and immigration checks, but the entire process is quick and easy, so you won’t have to deal with delays or crowds.

Likewise upon arrival, you will quickly pass through the FBO to collect your luggage. Our flight managers can book a mode of transportation for your transfers to or from the airport.

5) Finding your bearings on board

Traveling by private plane is above all benefiting from all the advantages of an à la carte service: whether you are accompanied by your family, colleagues or a pet, you are free to organize your experience down to the smallest details. The crew, composed of two pilots and sometimes a flight attendant, is at your service to offer you a safe and relaxing flight.

Catering from top-of-the-line suppliers is included in the price of your booking. Options vary by aircraft type. On most light and mid-size jets, we can provide you with assortments of pastries, fresh fruit, sushi, sandwiches or salads. Larger aircraft have kitchenettes, allowing us to offer à la carte options or hot meals served by a flight attendant.

On all devices you will have a wide choice of drinks, including wines, champagnes and spirits. Any other product can be provided on request.

However, due to the current health crisis, operators are recommending a simplified service, so that passengers can serve themselves and maintain social distancing.

You will also find a selection of newspapers and magazines in the cabin. A multimedia system will allow you to listen to music and entertain yourself during your flight and on larger aircraft, you will have access to WiFi Internet.

Our flight managers are ready to meet all your requests to make your flight unforgettable. We can order cakes, flowers or decorations to celebrate a special occasion or a corporate event, provide toys for your children, arrange for your pet to travel with you in the cabin and much more… Just ask, we are at your service!

Rent or buy a private jet: which solution should you choose?

Are you looking to buy or rent a private jet because your mode of transportation is suitable? Our team of business aviation experts will provide you with all the elements you need to consider to help you decide to take the plunge.

The 2008 crisis hit the business aviation market hard . The number of personal aircraft or private jets for sale had increased considerably, representing more than 20% of the global fleet . As the crisis affected travel budgets, companies turned to more economical solutions such as on-demand rental of private aircraft .

In 2020, there are 20,000 private jets available worldwide. Half of these jets belong to airlines and the other half to private owners , so a balance is respected. The current situation offers interesting purchasing opportunities. However, many elements should be observed in detail to determine the benefits of acquiring an aircraft. And if profitability is not proven, what are the advantages of renting a private jet on demand.

Buying or renting a business jet : what are the differences?

Buying a private jet: why?
Purchasing a private jet for sale allows you to have full ownership and thus have total freedom in using your aircraft whenever and wherever you want. Your private flight is subject to less stringent regulations than when renting a private jet which must meet the criteria relating to Public Passenger Transport.

From turboprops to business jets to regional jets , there are as many types of aircraft as there are destinations. You must first determine your needs:

  1. What are the places you go to and how far are they?
  2. How long are you staying there?
  3. How many passengers do you usually have on board your planes?
  4. Are there any restrictions on the fields you land on?
  5. Are you traveling with bulky luggage?

There are many ways to acquire a private jet and new ranges of aircraft offer different advantages in terms of speed, passenger capacity or distance. It is therefore essential to clearly define your needs in order to acquire a private jet at the best price .

Why favor the rental of a private plane?

Renting a private jet is much less expensive than buying one. You will need a few thousand euros to charter a private jet . Renting therefore allows you to avoid a significant investment that may turn out to be unprofitable. Renting an aircraft also offers great flexibility. For each flight, you will be able to choose the aircraft that is best suited to your flight time and the number of passengers .

Because flying should be a pleasure, you will also be able to rent a private jet according to very specific needs in terms of comfort. This depends on the model but also on the private jet manufacturer you choose: Bombardier, Beechcraft, Cessna, Dassault Aviation, Embraer, Gulfstream Aerospace etc.

Visit our private plane page to understand all the issues involved in renting.

Buying or renting a private plane: what are the criteria for choosing?

There are many parameters to consider when choosing between buying and renting. Let’s focus on three key factors to understand the issues.

1. A very fundamental distinction between Public Transport and Private Transport

2. Flexibility: Advantages of chartering a private plane

3. Access to airports for all types of aircraft

Generally speaking, chartering a plane gives you more freedom. However, during the summer months, private plane rentals are on the rise. Sometimes, charter prices increase and there is a shortage of available planes.

How to buy a private jet?

Before buying a new, luxury or used private jet, ask yourself several questions. What size aircraft do you want? Indeed, its passenger capacity is an important element. You should also consider the use you want to make of your jet.

What kind of distance do you need it for? Regular flight? Long distance? Short trip?

In fact, a small plane will have to stop more regularly to refuel. If you are looking to save time over a long distance, you will therefore have to choose another model. Conversely, the operating cost of a large aircraft will be higher. So, if your flight time is rather short, take this into account when choosing the jet.

Then, it is also possible to get a used private jet to reduce the purchase costs. You will then need to know the number of flight hours of the model you like as well as the number of its landings. Finally, do not forget that a private plane requires maintenance. It is mainly this expense that you will need to evaluate on an annual basis. Added to this are additional costs such as insurance, safety inspections, fuel prices, pilot and crew salaries, etc.
